The speculations over the release of Shah Rukh Khan’s My Name Is Khan have ended on a triumphant note, with about 35 to 40 theatres releasing ‘MNIK’ in the city on Friday. Some started with noon shows and Mumbaikars turned out in troops to see the Shah Rukh Khan-Kajol starrer. After much irresolute, multiplexes decided screen the movie and to call the Shiv Sena’s bluff, and the screenings which went approximately full right from the start.
Mumbaikars came out in rebelliousness of the Sena’s decree that theatres shouldn’t release ‘MNIK’ to remonstrate Shah Rukh favoring Pakistani cricketers in the IPL. There was a huge round of applause as the name and show timings started flashing at Inox multiplex in south Mumbai at 12.15 p.m.
The fans of Shah Rukh Khan outnumbered the Shiv Sainiks and despite the unnecessary violation and protest My Name Is Khan got typical Shah Rukh Khan movie opening and is went on to a flyer in the later shows of the movie.
